This letter was run in the Winnipeg Sun newspaper yesterday. It deals (yet again) with the recent judicial decision in Scotland, but it's the last line that has me up in arms. The man is an idiot.

Someone should remind Mr. Banek of all of the Canadian lads who "wore skirts and blew their bagpipes" in the First World War, including Piper Richardson VC. Those lads weren't "prissy men".

Some Googling found that the gentleman is president of a small software firm, is a frequent writer of letters to the editor, and about ten years ago seemed to have had some difficulty with the Manitoba Securities Commission for trading improperly registered securities....

 An interesting Google for sure.

Perhaps the gentleman should attend more to his business than to what other people chose to wear.

I know Politics isn't allowed on this board, but it makes me mad that some would seek to blame the Scottish people for a decision that they had no part in making. Plenty of Nations have done far worse and recieved less press than the Scots over the decision of their justice minister.
Oh and gurrrrrrrrrrrrrrr to anyman that calls a Kilt a skirt. Call a kilted man a sissy and watch him turn into a "Lady from Hell".

					I was born in Winnipeg!
Winnipeg has a huge UK population (Welsh, Irish, Scottish, English) and you can even see the Scottish football matches live at select sites in the city. It is a very multicultural city.

Lord Selkirk brought Scots to settle near Winnipeg. Selkirk prayer sound familiar to anyone?

They have what is called a Folk Festival (runs two weeks in the summer) in the city and one of the best pavilions has to be the Scottish! Visitors and performers come from all over the world for this event.

Now when you talk the Winnipeg Sun, that is the "news" (long shot) paper written for a grade six level person (study showed). It is great for when you have bowel troubles and cannot go and that is where the news paper belongs according to most Winnipeggers I know. So I wouldn't read much into a rant from someone ignorant of Scottish history, here and abroad. : )
