How quickly do you need it? My favorite dress sgain came off ebay, antique, hallmarked silver fittings. Lots of listing sites, craigs list etc

Thanks, I just got outbid for a really nice old one on e-bay. I'm looking for the classic dress sgian dubh. The tartan museum have a nice silver one but with a fake stone, I may buy one of these and look at getting the stone replaced with something real like smokey quartz.

    Scotus

I ordered mine from the Scottish Tartans Museum. It's wood, carved in a "military style," but the stone is imitation Cairngorm. It's a very nice piece.
These days, it's illegal to mine for Cairngorm stones. However, I know of a place that has a tray with some left that were mined years ago...aah, the mystery...

This isn't really a problem, if you know how to work with settings (or know someone who does).

I wouldn't mind doing some setting works for folks...

I have a nice little damascus and snakewood with copper trim for sale. PM if you want pics, or search for the thread "a couple of sgian dubh for fun", I think it is likely three or four pages back on the accessories forum by now. No stone on the end though.
