Cock-and- Leekie soup is a favorite at my office. I have been bringing it in for a St. Andrews Day lunch and for a Robbie Burns lunch to my office for a few years now. You can find many recipes for it on the web.

If you want something that needs no cooking on the spot, then Jock Scot has absolutely the right answer.

If you want to do some cooking before their very eyes, I'd suggest girdle (griddle) scones or pancakes. You can cook these in a frying pan and they are ready (and delicious) in a very few minutes. Add some good butter and a bit of Scottish raspberry jam. Mmmmm.

Every time I have brought smoked salmon to an event it has always been very well recieved.

This is a great suggestion.

Assuming whisky is not allowed as a side dish, you could always enjoy this yourself after work

Maybe a nice shepherd's pie, or cottage pie if you do not have any lamb available. It's a traditional dish that most will not consider too "exotic". It is relatively simple, easily re-heated, and a sure crowd-pleaser, even with a picky crowd. I have an 8y.o., a 4y.o., a 3y.o., and a wife that will not eat anything I like, but there is barely enough left over for my lunch the next day when I make one.

But do check out the recipe thread in the off topic area. I have really enjoyed the posts there!

Surprised no-one has mentioned Cullen Skink, bit like clam chowder but with smoked fish instead. Really delicious. Mind you Jock's suggestion sounds the least bother.
