Kilts in Edinburgh

It is nice to see the youngsters of Edinburgh not conforming with their kilt attire, which is just what they should be doing! They will grow into upright and well dressed kilt wearers in the course of time.

In all seriousness, short socks with the kilt, do look awful!

I agree, I can't go the bare leg thing with a kilt at all.

When I - 13 years ago - was in Scotland I saw two men in kilts, a piper in Edinburgh and a guide at a destillery in Pittlochry.
An amazing progress, it seems.

Plenty of young guys out and about in kilts. Here two modern men pose for the camera while the fair haired chap
in the black watch kilt has not spotted the camera but his lass obviously has.

Can't get my head around normal ankle socks and a kilt. Must be the traditionalist in me struggling to get out. Either that or my school rugby coach smacking me round the head everytime my socks slipped down... I used to use elastoplast in the Army to keep my rugby socks up. Mind you, we all did. Same sort of regime and mindset I suppose. Haven't got the same problem with wearing a denim jacket with a kilt though. Odd that!

John, I so agree with you. Normal, short 't-----r' socks worn with the kilt just make me cringe. Kilt hose worn scrunched (or rolled) down are a different matter altogether and are perfectly acceptable when worn with boots, but not shoes. It's all down to what I call Visual Balance really ..... for those who do not know me, I'll explain that in detail later.
