Knit hats?

Very interesting. I want to work my way into tams/balmorals. I have never tried felting but am keen to do it. Does anyone have a tam pattern or balmoral they can share? I have to finish the scarf I am working on but that will be done next week. Then I'd like to start my next hat.

This site http://www.thedietdiary.com/knitting...s/HKBeret.html has a pattern generator for a tam. Scroll down and enter gauge and head size and it gives you a pattern.

Note when you knit something for felting it is knit very loose, larger needles and larger stitch sizes. As the piece is felted the yarn will shrink. Knit a swatch and measure before and after felting to understand the shrinkage involved.
