It feels sharp but isn't. I ran it across a finger and it did not cut with pressure it might. I'm sure it'll do damagae to a haggis on Burn's night. The blade, being stainless I'm sure can be honed to an very sharp edge should you choose. I thought about sharpening it but I don't feel a need too. It certainly looks very sharp but it shouldn't be confiscated by a doorman and the local. Sgians are sold for ceremonial purposes now, not as weapons. Some might find a use for a sharpened blade, should I need that I'd rather slip a Leatherman multitool in my sporran. I don't know if Rab's knives are sold sharpened or not. I would suggest that if interested perhaps Comrie Crafts would sell one sharpened if asked.

Cool! I have 2 of their blades and have been very happy with them. I have sharperned them and they take an edge nicely.

Most makers ship their sgians dubh without an edge to prevent numpties from cutting themselves. Shop owners are particularly aware of this problem and some will actually complain to the manufacturer if the sgians arrive sharply edged.

That is a nice sgian that you have got there, Grant.
'though I have to admit - I prefer the colors from the website. Is the wood that much lighter in color, or was that mostly due to the flash?
