Good... post pics!
I really like hair sporrans - if I was getting one I think I'd want a shorter one that doesnt come to the bottom of my kilt. The goats hair ones look really good for civillians wear!
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

Agreed Paul...that is what drew me to the goathair sporrans...a very vintage look yet less militaristic or pipeband-like.
NorCalPiper...thank you again! I'm looking forward to your handiwork!!! I'm sure I'll get a lifetime of use out of it! By the way...what kind of attachments does it have on the back. I'm not sure if I'll be going with a chain or leather strap for it....probably leather strap most of the time, but may consider a quality chain sometime in the future. Does it have both a loop and d-rings?

No worries about the sporran belt. I hand stitch a Y sleeve on the back of all my sporrans. The leather is thick and hand double-looped stitched (NOT MACHINE LOCK STICHED !!). You could wear a barbed wire strap and not effect it in any way!!!
Man....i wish I could get my hands on some karakul wool that is soooo prevalent in Afghanistan. Karzai wears a traditional karakul wool Afghan hat.....The wool is incredible

Having done the long-distance relationship thing (though not quite the distance or circumstances you're doing), I can only say, thank goodness for the technology that allows us to have real-time conversations with our loved ones!
I'm sure she hated spoiling your surprise (you owe her BIG time for that). I look forward to the pics of you in your living room with your new sporran.
Thanks for all you're doing over there.

Congratulations. What a great Christmas present.
No matter what day you arrive back in the world,...it will be Christmas.
