I spent the day at the office today, though I bookended it with a little sight-seeing in my home city.

First, here's a panorama of downtown Cincinnati, with Newport and Covington, Kentucky, on the far side of the Ohio River, as seen from an overlook in the Mt. Adams neighborhood. If this looks odd, it's because I cobbled this together from several shots in Photoshop. This was about 8:30-ish this morning, a bit of a hazy day.

Technically, my actual office is across the street from Fountain Square, though my employer occupies buildings on two sides of it. Here is the iconic fountain of Fountain Square, the recently restored (or ruined, depending on your POV) Tyler Davidsion Fountain, The Genius of Water.

Nearby, the flagpole gets into the celebration of water with ring of entwined Art Deco dolphins carrying swags of sea shells just above its base.

(I think this would make an interesting tattoo.)

Before heading home, I stopped by the same place I was in the morning to take a night shot.

Still hazy. That's the Proctor and Gamble headquarters in the foreground (the pair of towers and several of the low buildings on two blocks), and Macy's headquarters is in the tower on the far right with the wedge-shaped crown. E. W. Scripps, the media company, is headquartered in the third building on the left in the background with the bright band at the top. Chiquita Brands is headquartered in the banded building just to the left of center - the illuminated wall on its roof tells the weather forecast based on what color it displays - and I work in a glass box to the right of that one, which sits in the afternoon shadow of my employer's tower, the one with the red band outlining its top. (Actually, I've worked in three buildings in the 20 years I've lived here, and I can see all of them in this shot.) Below it, on the other side, is Fountain Square.

That's it for today - a long day it was, and tomorrow promises to be another, so it's off to bed for me.

Regards,
Rex.
