The event was held at the Mayflower Hotel, considered by some to be the second best address in Washington DC. In other words, this wasn't exactly Motel 6. Well, the room is provided with an iron and an ironing board (just like Motel 6), but no trouser press. When I rang down to the desk, I was informed that they did not offer a valet service-- no pressing, no shoe shine. So it seems one is now expected to press their own trousers and shine their own shoes when staying at what are considered "top tier" hotels...
If noticed the same thing, Scott, at some of the "better" hotels I've stayed at in this country recently.
