Ah, sounds like a good plan.
I know that Hart, Schafner, and Marx used to make J. C. Penney's best house brand, but I don't know who makes it these days. My point is that buying their best brand used to mean your were buying a darned fine suit.
You can probably have the jacket professionally tailored for only a very minimum cost. I paid $50 to have a tails jacket cut down a couple years ago, and I imagine that since it's really a matter of laying out the curve and sewing it all back together, you can have it done very inexpensively. That is, if you are hesitant.
But that material really looks good with your kilt, and it's not something everyone else at the games will have on. I've been toying with the idea of doing that myself: buying a jacket and vest in a nice material and pattern to have altered.
