I have found that kilts take a bit more thinking about clothing choices than just the usual grab and go.
You will get the bagpipe question so get use to it. People just think there has to be a reason to wear the kilt other than "I just like them". Back to a kilt is a costume mentality.
As for friends, I can't say I am aware of any that don't want to be with me. What I have found strange is some of my friends don't say a thing about the kilt. I don't know if this means they don't care one way or the other or that they don't like it so they keep their mouth shut not to hurt my feelings or have to lie.
I also find I am more aware of what I pick out to wear with my kilt as opposed to putting on p@nt$ and taking any old shirt out of the closet. I also find myself changing kilts during the day. I may be working around the house in an old Utilikilt in the morning then change into a tartan kilt to run errands in the afternoon. If I had on jeans I would just go out in the same old p@nt$.
