Save me! PC conversion from a Tux jacket

Gosh, those tailcoats look quite good as they are. I'm a bit tempted, but I must wonder where I'd wear it. I'll add this question again, since it has been answered. Is it acceptable to wear the Argyle jacket on informal occasions (ie: as an alternative to a sports coat)?

I edited that out earlier because I thought I'd be told to look at Panache's visual guide to formality in Highland attire, which I have now done. Thanks.
