Try those socks with another wool sock on top (if it does not crowd your feet too much). I.e. treat them as sock liners, and see what that does for you.
You never want your feet to be too constricted in the cold, as it can cut down circulation and make them even colder. However two layers of wool is greater than the sum of its parts.
Yesterday, I wore a summer-weight wool blend sock as liner, and worsted weight, hand knit merino wool on top. Toasty!
