			sporran help

hello and i am new here, i was recently cleaning out all the stuff passed down by relatives, and found this (hairy thing ...lol)After much suching on the net I am guessing its called a sporran?

on the back it says A.ES.H. of C. reg't Property

 J.G. Stevenson Glascow 1939

its black long fur with 6 white bell shaped fur things hanging from it..

can anyone tell me, exactly what this is?
Can it be told if there is history behind it?
 whats its for?
is it usefull to anyone, is there a market to sell these?
 whats it worth?
or should I just garbage it?
 thanks

I believe you may have misinterpreted the markings a bit. It is probably a dress sporran from the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, Of C (?Canada) Regiment.
The J G Stevenson of Glasgow is likely the manufacturer, although I suppose it could be the owners name and billet.

Depending on the condition of the whole and parts of the item it could be worth a couple hundred dollars or more. Your best bet would be to take several pictures of it from different angles and post them here to others to see and comment on. If you need help posting pics on the forum just ask and we can help you get them up.

 Nice find.

It would be very useful to me. I'll give you ten bucks right now. Hahahahahahahahaha.
 Just kidding.

Actually, it's an Argyl and Sutherland Highlanders sporran, and it's probably a little bit valuable, depending on its condition. It would have been worn by a soldier in the highland regiment. A kilted gentleman wears a sporran as a recepticle for his personal items since there are no pockets in a kilt.

We'd love to see a picture of it.
