There is a saying that someone "knows the price of everything but the value of nothing" and that comes across very much as the case here. Nowadays dirks are very much the preserve of pipers or collectors. Anyone else is just looking for an over-sized pencil sharpener, in which case the price definitely is too much.

The price is probably reasonable, especially if it can be authenticated to c. 1820, which I doubt that it can. This is definitely not something to be worn with the kilt. It is a collector's item. ith:
