1.Stick thumb and index finger into top of hose and grasp top of hilt.
2.Pull hilt up until it is visible at the top of hose.
3.While still holding top of hilt insert tip of sgian dubh into opening in hilt and push all the
way into hilt.
4. Adjust sgian dubh and hilt to where you are comfortable wearing them.
At all times remember it is a knife and can cut you. You probably should not remove the sgian dubh after you have started in on the single malt.
It isn't rocket science.

i think Jock is right. There is no elegant way. I find often it's easier to just fish the sheath out, put the sgian back in it, and replace the whole business in the hose top.
