I am with Jamie---kilted, probably in my Forrester Hunting because it is heavily green, with a Kelly green sweater if it is cold enough, and my caubeen appropriately cocked, enjoying my corned beef (you can keep the cabbage), with Guinny in a tall glass in one hand and some Clontarf single malt in a small glass in the other, probably in the local Irish pub (where else?).
Hey, sounds like an excuse for kentucky kilt night! What say ye kilted kentucky brethren?

Well, since I now have my Irish Saffron, it would be a shame NOT to wear it on St. Patty's.

Cabbage is great, just put it in the pot on the top at almost the last minute and kill the heat.
Bring to the table and serve, cabbage is really nice when it is tender but still has some firmness to it.
Overcooked cabbage is ....
...err
unpleasant

Cheers

Savannah's St. Patrick's Day Parade is full of pipe bands and kilts are move in evidence on the street than any other day of the year. There'll be lots of kilts in evidence at the Tara Feis festival that precedes the parade by a few days as well. It's one day in the year where I "blend in" downtown.

If I'm not working that day, I'll find a nice Irish pub to invade (I mean visit), kilted of course.

Wow! This is early this year! I have three choices- I have a green Amerikilt, a green Flamingo Kilt, and an Irish saffron. Any one of those is a good choice. I will be going out with the local steampunk group, so that may determine my choices in clothes.

4 of my 5 kilts are Irish - Green, Saffron, Irish National or County Cork (House of Edgar). The other one is black. I think it's safe to say I won't be wearing the black one to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, and that I'll be wearing a green shirt (I have quite a few of those to choose between).
I have also been contemplating buying a kilt in the St. Patrick's tartan. I suppose if I am going to I'd better order it soon, as it would be a shame if it arrived after St. Patrick's Day.
Someone mentionned getting a green shamrock to wear in their caubeen. I have a nice small one I got on eBay, which is from Beamish's brewery in Cork. It looks good on my caubeen, but if only my bl**dy caubeen fit my head! It should fit according to the size marked on it, but it is ex-British Army, and unfortunately from what I understand the squaddies get them too large and then deliberately shrink them to fit.
I would like to get another caubeen that actually fits, but I am very nervous of again buying a hat online. I have seen adjustable ones on the J Byous site, but the green ones seem to be permanently out of stock, and I won't have a black one, because to me that is IRA headgear (yes, I know that's political, but otherwise I'd have to refuse to tell you why).
