Yes it is, the photo only states the Regiment, year, and the locality I'm afraid. Incidentally Hill and Adamson's photo's have very few kilted subjects, most of which are military. Understandable I guess since their area of operations was mainly in and around Edinburgh.

BIOG: Douglas Gilmour (1889-1916), the fifth and youngest son of the photographer and Sir John Gilmour, 1st baronet of Lundin and Montrave; died of wounds received in action during World War I. Seen with his sister, Henrietta (1884-1962), younger daughter of the family; married Robert Purvis of Gilmerton, youngest son of John Purvis of Kinaldy, in 1904.

It's been pointed out that there is a discrepancy between the date of the photo (ca.1891) & the apparent age of the child in the kilt. There is no way he's 2 yrs of age. A more likely guess would be around 6 yrs of age, putting the photo around ca.1897

If I'm not mistaken, he's wearing true cadadh, hose cut and sewn from the tartan cloth, not knit.

I also like the effect of using a different tartan for the waistcoat and kilt.
