First X-Kilt Complete!!!
Hey All, Just wanted to post a couple pictures of my first X-Kilt. I finished it last month, and unleashed it on my workplace for our St. Patrick's Day party. What a blast! The kilt is made from Digital MARPAT Camo, following most of the rules from the X-Kilt manual. I modified it to include custom pleated cargo pockets, hidden wallet pocket on center of under apron (really helps weigh it down when sitting), and a 3" parachute cord modesty strap to connect the center rear box pleat to the back of the front under apron, for keeping things PG when I'm higher than other people for work, etc. I had a TON of fun making it, and am learning a lot about myself and other people through this experience. Yesterday I wore it to a shooting competition and endured the expected jesting from my friends, but when I tied for second out of 20+ people, they had to come to grips that all but 2 of them just got beat by a guy in a "skirt" (as they called it). ;) The best part of this has been the interaction with people who are just curious. Thanks for putting together such a great manual and enabling me to have this great experience. BTW, my second X-kilt is in progress, only this one will be a RK knife pleated kilt in tan canvas with a lower ride, like my jeans.

Okay, so in order to see the X-Kilt, you will have to go to my profile. My settings say I can't post attachments. Am I missing something? Thanks! Jason

I think you need to break the 10 post mark before you can post pics, something like that. I had the same trouble when I started. That kilt looks NICE. I'm starting to regret my utilikilt seeing the results that people are getting with the xkilt pattern.

To get a photo into a message I think the only way is to use a photo holding site - I use Photobucket, as I can do editing there too, and then you copy the IMG information into your message and the photo appears in the message when it is on the forum.

Very cool looking! Seeing results like this make me think that I may try to tackle the X-kilt this summer in British Khaki.

RK - Reverse Kingussie?
I am very fond of that style of pleating and all my kilts have now been made or modifide to be reverse Kingussie, except for one jungle print which is Kingussie pleated.
I find that the backward facing pleats are essential in the local heathland, otherwise the kilt is constantly being caught up on the vegetation.
Having taken a look at your first kilt I think that you have done a great job - I wait photos of your next kilt with anticipation - you seem to have a natural knack for making them.

Thanks all! I'm glad that I did this instead of buying a pre-made kilt. I've enjoyed the entire experience of making my X-Kilt. Anne- yes, I am making a Reverse Kingussie style kilt next. I saw your various posts around the site, and you talked me into going for it. ;) Also, thanks for the complement on my work. I spent 11.5 years in the Active Duty US Air Force, so I've plenty experience sewing patches on my uniforms, and keeping my uniforms sharp. This project falls right along the same lines, and I’ve found that it just takes a little care and attention to detail. I’m looking forward to sharing more projects with you all in the future! Jason

Looks good, and good on ya for taking the plunge. Now of course you'll have to have one in USAF digital tigerstripe!
