Which actors have all played Rabbie Burns to date ?

I remember John Cairney played him a lot on Scottish TV back in the '60's.

He was even mentioned by other actors in their shows.

In an episode of Scotch and Wry years ago, Rikki Fulton, in his morose Rev I.M. Jolly persona, was about to give one of his depressing fireside chats. Just before the good Rev took his position, a TV technician was swigging some vodka on the QT and in a panic and hurry, not to be caught out, dumped the remaining contents of his stash into Rev Jolly’s water carafe. As the religious programme started, the Reverend took a glass of water and immediately stared at the carafe ! With no time to ask questions, he started his presentation. He took another glass and started to relax and chuckle at his own words. He also looked off screen and asked “Where do you get your water ? It’s great water !” He drank more and started to get really happy as he talked. He was going to tell the story of some young chap, as reverends do, and he said “There wiz a man – if you pardon the John Cairney !”

Eventually, he’s totally drunk- but Rikki did it so well ! It was a really funny part of Scotch and Wry !
