For my next pair I'm going to do just that, but instead of averaging just increase as necessary for the patterned leg after I work the stockinette foot.

I have no idea in the slightest what in the world any of that means, but as I mentioned in the other thread, those are seriously cool. The more I look at them, I even like the shorter turn-down. Well done indeed!

Thanks! And never mind the lingo, knitting can get pretty nerdy. I actually worked this pattern out on a google docs spreadsheet then saved it as a PDF to my iPod to work on while on the go. Like I said, pretty nerdy.

For Kilt Hose, I'm a swatcher for sure and two (or more) is sometimes required. Tommy likes his hose knit to measure, so one for the pattern-especially hose that have a lot of pattern, seems reasonable!

I would definitely like to see the pattern made with the cuff a lot wider on these.

Wow! I am so impressed!!! I'm getting software next month at Stitches South which will do all of that for me...I am not as talented as you, so I need help! I hope to be able to design kilt hose as well as other cable-y things with this. It's called Intwined Pattern Studio and I understand it's fabulous! It's also reasonably priced for the software! Only $44...versions for Mac and PC.

It looks like there's enough interest that I'll type up a pattern when I get the chance. I'm single parenting this week, and sick, and working on a tie and a jacket conversion, so don't expect it later today, but watch this space! I'm going to make up my pattern with guidelines to make to measure, as that's the way I make them as well.

Those are lovely hose and I truly love the look of cables in natural wool.

What an amazing talent! I can't imagine having the patience required to attain that level of detail. Leave alone the vision required prior to even starting. Like many artistic talents, it is so foreign to me I cant get my head around it. I'll have to take your word for it on the "flaws", as they look great to me!

Thanks for the kind words. I'm still planning on writing out this pattern, but have taken a little break from socks so I don't burn out on them. I just finished a pair for a friend in a new design and I'm currently working on a jumper from Elizabeth Zimmerman's book Knitting Without Tears. After the jumper I may revisit this kilt hose pattern.
