Quite aware of that, since I teach that every semester in relation to the Glorious Revolutions' effect on the American colonies.

My point was though that in Scotland, the Episcopal Church, which had been disestablished after William took the throne, and replaced by the Kirk, was persecuted on several occasions, and many "pisskies" threw in with BPC hoping the situation would be reversed. Not all Protestants favoured the Government side, and there were even some Presbyterians who allied with the Jacobites -- not many, but we can't say EVERY Protestant was a Hanoverian.

True enough. But in order to understand it, we need to discuss those things at times.

Hello Cajunscot. I agree that those who have suffered any form of persecution would choose a cause that they may not wholly agree with, but would go along with it to try to redress wrongs visited upon them.

Nothing is ever straightforward is it

    No worries, Bob.

I've got something on my mind, and that's a result of said worry.

You miss my meaning though; my point was that not every Protestant was against the Jacobites. I wasn't dismissing the issue outright, but trying to clarify a point.

Well, I shall wear a Irish tartan that day, in rememberance of the Irish Brigade, the Irish Jacobites in the French army that served in that conflict.
