    Quite aware of that, since I teach that every semester in relation to the Glorious Revolutions' effect on the American colonies.

    My point was though that in Scotland, the Episcopal Church, which had been disestablished after William took the throne, and replaced by the Kirk, was persecuted on several occasions, and many "pisskies" threw in with BPC hoping the situation would be reversed. Not all Protestants favoured the Government side, and there were even some Presbyterians who allied with the Jacobites -- not many, but we can't say EVERY Protestant was a Hanoverian.
