Do NOT get this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Hard-Wooden-CASE...item5d286f3343
I have it and it's horrible. I have a set of Lawries and they barely fit by themselves....let alone try and put a "spares" box in the bottom.
The right side "lock" is broken/sticks and you CAN'T change the combination from the factory setting. It was a Christmas gift and I don't want to upset the kids by burning it but if I could...I would.

That looks like a Pakistani-made case.
Far better and cheaper is a simple 24" toolbox.
There's a backpack case on the market now, rather expensive, but very nice.

I believe you are correct on its manufacture. The box is horrible and would tell anyone to buy a piece of common luggage before this thing.
Like I said, it was a gift from the kids so I'll put up with it until the lock completely breaks - which shouldn't be too long actually........

Hi Vic!!!
Hi Vic!
As you know I too am an aspiring piper and I bought the stanley tool chest. Make sure you get one that is 24" long or it wont be long enough for your drones to fit. As far as I am concerned, you cant beat it! Its got room for all the pipe maintenance stuff in the top tray and whats better yet, you can run a padlock through it to keep it secure. You never told me you were a piper?! How long have you been doing that? Maybe when I visit in August we could play together?
Take care Vic and say hi to Sandy for me!

Hi Eric,
Aspiring piper, but I am practiing with the band now. No, I am attempting to keep up with the band. How's that?
Yes, bring your pipes and we will kill cats and piss off the neighbors together. One of the guys in our class was practicing outdoors, and a nrighbor two blocks away complained. Our noise ordinance doesn't start until 2200 hrs to I told Charlie to tell him to pack sand. Charlie is a nice guy (unlike me) and moved into the garage. Hmmmph.

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

Unappreciative neighbors
I will definitely bring my pipes and we'll see the dispatch phone lines light up!! LOL. Good on ya for piping!! If you haven't already, you will find that piping can be REALLY frustrating but REALLY worth it when it all starts coming together. I have been seriously on the pipes for about 8 months now after dabbling for 14 years and I have about 6 or 7 tunes down OK. My pipe instructor moved me to a harder chanter reed in the big pipes about 2 weeks ago so I am drooling again for a while and only have the bass drone going but I will get the other drones up and running before long.
Planning on competing at the Spokane Highland Games in 2011 in grade 4. We'll see how it goes. What kind of pipes did ya get?
See ya later,
Eric

Sorry, I was busy at work when I wrote that. Duh!! Shepherds pipes. I have Shepherds. That's what I get for multi-tasking.

I picked out my case for travelworthiness, so that it could take the rigors of traveling as on-board baggage (I don't check it). However, there are several pipers I know that take on trips a very sturdy, heavy-plastic travel case and line it with foam so that they can travel with their pipes as checked luggage. Consider your needs.
