I look forward to Christmas when all those "Happy Christmas" postings are removed .............they might upset some one! All this is just plain nonsense. I will have no further truck with this thread.
Thank you Jock Scot! Amen...if I may say so without offending anyone!

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am flabbergasted at what has been said on this thread.

To begin, The Kilted Reverends' Prayer Thread was reported to the Forum Moderators. It was just a report as any member of this forum has the right to make when they wish to bring something to the attention of the Staff.

In accordance with our Policies the staff are required to respond to both the person making the report and to the Original Poster.

This is the response which was sent to The Kilted Reverend.

    "Sir,
The prayer you posted on the forum seems to have raised a few comments and generated a few reports of the post to the forum Staff.
Due to the reports we have received we must respond to those who have made the reports and also to you as the original poster.

We know that your heart was in the right place when you wrote your prayer. We can respect you for your caring and your wish to evoke prayerful thoughts for those hit by the recent storms.
The general consensus among the staff is that perhaps it may have been wiser to have asked for prayers and not delivered one.
Our concern comes not from the content of your prayer or the thought behind it. It comes only from a concern of the venue and method you chose. X Marks is an international forum. We have members of many different faiths and beliefs. Our rules forbid the comparison of any one religion to another out of a respect for those with different beliefs.

Any caring person cannot hear of the damage and loss due the recent storms and not be moved. Please notice though that there have been very few responses to your post. This is very unusual on our forum. Voiced in any other way, a call to remember those in trouble and those in need is usually met with an outpouring of support and suggestions how others can help and assist.
Your post has been met with virtual silence. The Staff believe that this may be due to a feeling of discomfort over the appropriateness of your post on an international Kilt forum.

In the future we would ask that you think through fully the effect on others of posting a prayer directly on the forum. I think you will find, if worded more as ‘putting out a call’ for support, of remembrance, and of sympathy, that your post would be met with great response.

This is an incredible forum. Our members have always risen to help and support fellow members. Our members have always taken the time and expended the effort when natural calamity such as what resulted from the recent storms has been brought to our attention.
The secret seems to be in allowing each member to respond in the way they feel is best for them."

Please note that at no time did anyone state or even imply that the Reverend violated any rule.

    No one "Dressed Him Down".
    No one belittled his post.
No one asked or directed him to remove his post.
In fact we offered suggestions on how he could make a prayerful request more effectively.

This message was vetted through the Forum Staff and also through two serving members of Clergy.

This is a copy of a Personal Message I received in reply.

"Please accept my deepest appologizies for making what the "staff" sees as a "error." It was an attempt to show support for the people affected by the stroms. I in no way wanted to start a religous fight with people who obviously cannot be tolerant to my beliefs. I have seen and commented on thses "call to prayer" type post before I just felt that this situation called for a little more than that.

I don't agree with the "staff's" interpretation on the lack of response to the post I have only had one post on this forum break the 50 comment mark so this is not new to me.

I made it a point to read the rules before posting and I fail to see the fault with my post. I will humbly accept your decision as you and the "staff" have spoken!

I am very sorry that a moment of compassion on my part was turned into a cry to "daddy" Steve and the "Mods." I cant understand why people can't just ignore what is on this board that they don't like just as I do.

In closing I have been very absent as of late because I don't like the new direction of the forum. I will be even less present in the future as this is the straw that broke the camel's back."

If the Reverend, has a beef with me, fine. If he wished clarification of our message all he had to do was ask.

Instead he chose to come back here and remove his post. The result is that others, without knowing the facts, have added to the thread.

The facts have now been fully presented, I am now closing this thread.
