The What Price Glory kilts are well made and heavy weight. They are a great value for the price. However, the extra fabric is not cut out of the fell portion, and so it can be a little bulky in that area.
That having been said, I love my WPG Black Watch kilt. I am a repeat customer, and would recommend WPG. I am a reenactor whose impression is a private in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. My fellow recreated Argylls and I have purchased many items from What Price Glory, including kilts. We have been quite satisfied with the quality and service. The proprietor is a fellow named Jerry Lee, whom I have met at a reenacting event. While no one is perfect, he has a long and a good track record regarding customer service.
Jerry met someone at the same reenacting event who apparently had recently ordered something from--once he heard the name he was able to recite the order from memory and give specifics in terms of order status. I was impressed with his personal involvement. Hope that info helps. Cheers!
"Before two notes of the theme were played, Colin knew it was Patrick Mor MacCrimmon's 'Lament for the Children'...Sad seven times--ah, Patrick MacCrimmon of the seven dead sons....'It's a hard tune, that', said old Angus. Hard on the piper; hard on them all; hard on the world." Butcher's Broom, by Neil Gunn, 1994 Walker & Co, NY, p. 397-8.
