Wow, that is one gorgeous tartan and John did a great job on the kilt. Congrats!
I was in Hamilton last month and had a nice chat with the owner (Marlene Reid) of Scottish Imports of Hamilton about the official Ontario tartan. Her dad designed it and she owns the copyright. She told for me that D.C. Dalgliesh is the weaver she has assigned rights to for that tartan, but that anyone can have them weave it up and there is no "extra" charge. Does that reflect your experience getting the tartan woven?

Scottish Imports has the tartan availiable in 13oz. John worked closely with her, in fact I believe that he put an order in with her. Apparently she was quite pleased that someone (me) went full bore with 16oz custom. I'm sure John had no problems with D.C. Dagliesh he had her blessing after all.
