Sheep herding trial kilted

May 24, 2010. Laidlaw, BC - This was my first herding trial in ten years, my first trial kilted, and Radar's first ever trial.

It was an unmitigated disaster. The best that can be said is that no sheep came close to being harmed, and that I was well dressed.

The kilt is one of Rocky's casuals, in Navy Stewart tartan. I removed my sporran before entering the arena, which was a good thing.

Looking good. I guess the kilt would be most comfortable for this activity.

Great photos, wish it hadn't turned into an 'unmitigated disaster' but I'm sure it'll work out better next time

If I had a wee bit more of property I'd like to get into this with our Smooth Collie. The woman we got her from does sheep dog trials, and if it wasn't for a conflict in alpha personalities between her older (& longer owned) collie & our girl, she would've kept Sassy, said she had an instinct for it & was trainable.

By the way, in these parts, most of the dog handlers are women. I got nothing but compliments, except for the many complaints about the whiteness of my knees
