					I'll go ahead and say I don't like the idea of a kilted smurf. Why? Because it is one more depiction of kilts as a cartoonish caricature. It doesn't help kilts be taken seriously in society. It may actually do the opposite.

 Everything varies on who's involved in the project...sometimes they get it right, sometimes they don't. Hopefully, they'll mange to make something that conveys the Pratchett magic touch and will be one of those movies that kids enjoy on one level and adults enjoy on another.

 Getting back to the Smurfs...I have an old clay modeling set that wasn't, I think, supposed to even have been sold in the USA, that had Smurph and Smurphette molds to make the basic figures and a whole set of accesories to customize them into the various Smurph characters. Still have the molds and accessories though my kids used the clay up. A great toy.

					My 30 and 32 year old girls grew up with the Smurfs, and I have been hoping to introduce my 4 yr old grand-daughter to them as well. Looks like I'll have the chance to now. And she won't have to ask grandpa why one is wearing a "skirt".I wish they could give "Gutsy" a balmoral instead !!

 If so, I think my sister had them as well. We used to make them out of play-doh (and then I'd squash the little blue beasties
  )

	I'm not being overly negative. I figure if the author himself thinks the screenplay is awful it probably is... Especially if I love the author's work and trust his judgment about his own IP.

 To Quote:
 In a June 2008 interview, Pratchett said: "I saw a script that I frankly thought was awful. It seemed to be Wee Free Men in name only. It had all the hallmarks of something that had been good, and then the studio had got involved. It probably won't get made. (underscoring by me for emphasis)
