Wonderful! Your wee bairnies look like such interesting little individuals--I'm sure life is never dull!

The chess set reminded me of one I bought many years ago. It was a mediaeval set and quite nicely done even though the pieces were all plastic. Of course I painted the shield of every pawn with a different coat of arms--several of them Scottish--and over the years many painted details were added. Unfortunately, my lovely lady doesn't play chess, so I'll have to wait 'till we both retire before I bring it down from the closet.
EPITAPH: Decades from now, no one will know what my bank balance looked like, it won't matter to anyone what kind of car I drove, nor will anyone care what sort of house I lived in. But the world will be a different place, because I did something so mind bafflingly eccentric that my ruins have become a tourist attraction.

What a wonderful gift Robert made all the more special by the love and care that your beautiful daughters put into the cards and wrapping.

Now that's a fantastic way to do fathers' day. Did you win at chess?

Again, I would like to thank you all for your wonderful comments.

I do not want to "let Louise win" just to please her. I think it's bad politics.

She is learning fast and surely someday she will beat me.

When that day comes, I want her to have no doubt that she really got to actually beat me.

    Best,

    Robert

I remember the first time I won at chess....after 27 attempts. The only problem was the person I was playing couldn't suffer a bruised ego & admit that I won, and in the end claimed I cheated!
