I've had 99% positive reactions to the kilt over the years. Back in the 80s, I would get an occasional "wolf-whistle" or snide remark but that all died away in the 90s. I did have one reaction from a bunch of young punks in a convenience store once. One remarked "I'm glad I don't have to wear one of those things!" Snickers from the others... So I broke my usual practice of ignoring idiots, turned around and told him: "Nobody HAS to wear one of these. In fact there are 3 good reasons why one would NOT wear one. 1. Not of Scottish ancestry, 2. Just don't care for the style, or 3. He's not man enough."
