Well, as I alluded to in my first post (My First Kilt), I just took delivery this past Tuesday of the other kilt I purchased while my wife and I were in Scotland this past May. It's and 8yd, medium weight, machine sewn, done by Geoffrey (Tailor).
While we were on Islay, we visited the "Islay Woollen Mill" run by Gordon Covell and his family. There we purchased 4 meters of his "Discover Islay" tartan. If you're ever on Islay, you must visit the mill. Very cool. You can read the story of the tartan on DiscoverIslay.com
When we got to Oban, I took the material to the GT store there where I was re-measured by Brian just to double check the measurements from Edinburgh and left him the material.
I decided to have this one machine sewn partly because it required a hem since the material is not woven specifically as kilt material. I was a little concerned it might be too pink, but it turned out pretty sharp if I do say so myself.
I guess we can't post a pic directly to the thread without going through a 3rd party site which I'm not interested in doing, so I put a picture in the X-Marks Gallery.
Thank you to Islay Woollen Mill and thanks to Geoffrey (Tailor) for two great kilts! Cliff
