SCOTS KITH & KIN has a listing for the name, "Robison" and the variant, "Robson."
The earliest recorded use in Scotland is in Tweed in the 15th century. Affiliation is listed for both Clan Gunn and Clan Robertson.
If you know what part of Scotland your ancestors lived in, you could narrow down the clan association.
A lot of companies that sell kilts and other Scottish themed merchandise advertise on this forum; check them out.
