More thanks to Jim and more heartfelt wishes for our Ham as he continues to mend. These excellent reports have brought a smile to my face and gratitude to my heart.

Great news to hear that Hamish is done with the surgery and recovered enough to get out of hospital to a convalescent bed. It is all up from here (hopefully not uphill though). It indeed would be great for Ham to make a post op visit to his surgeon with a photo of both kilted. That would be a fine photo indeed---one for the memories. And a sign of Hamish headed back to the kilted life.

Was considering sendig Ham one of those silly kilt towels they sell in the tat shops, for him to wear after bath/shower, but on second thought it might offend the Kollection to even have it in the house. Might not be a bad idea for the convalescent hospital though, as a sort of poor man's transition back to the kilted world.

Best wishes of improving health again to you Hamish. Cannot wait to "hear" your internet voice again and "see" your smiling face in recovery. Get well friend.

Sounds like the trek on the road to recovery is well underway. I'm certain that Hamish will liven up the convelescence ward which his good cheer while he is there.

    Smile

Hamish is now happily installed at the convalescence home. Not only that, but he is back in kilts already! So far, only casual kilts with Velcro at the wist, but kilts just the same. He is still very tender and can't stand the pressure a 'real' kilt exerts at waist level.

He and I are both very impressed by the standard of the home, and yet again he is making fans of everyone. And the food is great. Most of the vegetables come from their own garden and they have a chef who really knows his stuff.

The home is right on the sea front in its own extensive grounds. Hamish has already ventured out to explore these, but today we went for a walk along the promenade. In all we walked for about a mile and a half. We went slowly and stopped to rest several times, but the weather was warm and sunny with a nice sea breeze. We both greatly enjoyed it.

Everything is continuing to heal as expected. All being well, the staples come out on Monday.

Sadly, it looks unlikely that his surgeon will be appearing with him in kilts, but more positively, at lunch yesterday, Hamish found himself next to a lady who in her youth had been a member of the Royal Scottish Country Dancing Society, as had Hamish. It turns out they knew many of the same people from those days, including their original instructors. I have to take the Bicknell Tarten Kilt there tomorrow for her to see!

That's it for now. More in a few days,

    Jim

That really is encouraging news. And it is really a small world to find another patient with such a lot in common.

Sounds like Sussex? I spent 4-5 years in Seaford within hearing of the sea as a young boy, and carry memories of the downs, chalk cliffs, blackberries, pebble beaches close to my heart to this day. A nice place to get well; so long life to Hamish!
