Well, Xena, my Ford Escort never did that.
But the Triumph Spitfire I once owned (not my choice, but a hand-me-down that I was obliged to buy from my brother) was no great shakes.
That is not to run Triumph down, though. My mother had a Triumph Herald that ran very nicely, and I can say the same for the Austin A50 we had, and several A40s in the family, too. Oh, and my aunt’s Morris Minor as well.

But generally you guys seem to be picking on anything and everything British, and I have encountered some pretty awful US-made vehicles in my time.

Just don’t forget that US also stands for UnServiceable!
