I'm okay with the tassels disappearing into the background from time to time - I actually think that will help to make the sporran less flashy than your usual hair sporrans.
As for how it looks on my tartan, I'll let the forum members be the judges:

That's just a computer-generated image of the tartan in the background, but I think it works to give a general idea of how they work together. There's also the possibility of a Chattan Tartan kilt in the future, though I'm not sure how well those two would work together...

One thing at a time! I have a fund set aside for a petition of arms - when all that is finished, I just may have to splurge on silver and personalize things a bit! I'm getting ready to order my very first kilt (so I won't have to borrow anymore) and have started working on finding accessories that I like - I'm not pulling the trigger on this just yet, but when I do, I may very well have my own arms with which to customize it (maybe with something like this). If I'm not to that point yet, I may just go with the cheap fixtures and upgrade them later.
