Great photos, as usual Ern. You look well put together for both the dinner and the games.

Great pics, as usual, Ern. I'm sorry I didn't make it for the official group photos. I neglected to take any pain medication before the festival and my knees were hurting so much form the previous day's golf tournament that I didn't think I could make it back to the stage for Albannach's performance in time.

What Mael didn't mention is that Tommy, David H and I are all wearing the newly registered Scottish-American Military Society (SAMS) tartan. The tartan is based on the Black Watch tartan but has red, white and blue stripes running though it (in some ways it reminds me of the Scottish National tartan). These kilts were all made by Alexis Malcolm.

SAMS has a policy of not adapting any single tartan, but encourages members to wear the tartan of their choice. However, SAMS has recommended the SAMS tartan for those who do not have a clan tartan or wish to wear a military based tartan. As might be imagined, the various US military tartans are quite popular with SAMS members, as is the Black Watch and other tartans associated with Highland and Lowland regiments, and we expect the new SAMS tartan will also find a following.

I received mine (SAMS #3) the week before the Williamsburg Scottish Festival. I could have gotten it much earlier but when my turn to have it made came up I was in the midst of loosing weight so asked Alexis to defer me for a few months, which she graciously did. It fit great and was very comfortable to wear the entire day. I'm planning to wear it again this week at work.
