Congratulations Muffinman, you must be very proud and happy with your son.

Now my question about the MacLaren tartan.....all I can find out about it is the usual clan fights and one survivor from Culloden.
What does the wood badge have to do with wearing that tartan ? I am assuming it is something in the Boy Scouts they earn and the rest of the conversation sounds like he might raise eyebrows If he wears a kilt so it doesn't seem like it is connected thru the organazation....that I think is only in the U.S. (is Scouting world wide now?)
sorry about all the questions and congratulations again to your son.

    Tess,

Back in England, the land for the 1st wood badge course taught by Baden Powell was in Gilwell, and was donated by a MacLaren. Since then, all wood badgers recieve in addition to their beads, a necker with a swatch of MacLaren Plaid as a way to honor the donor. Scouters who have taken Wood Badge and completed their ticket have the option to join Clan MacLaren as an associate.
