Welcome to the forum. 
A word to the wise:
Scot (with one 't') describes a person whose origins (their own or their ancestors) are in Scotland.
Scott (with two 't's) is a person whose family name is Scott (like me), and likely belongs to the Border Clan Scott (or one of the Clan Scott Society organizations).
