Great legend. I've been to Ticonderoga and the fort it is definitely there just like the legend says. And if that doesn't prove the story, I don't know what does!
What about the movie The Ghost Goes West? Again, Scottish all the way to the USA!

At least two members here have been to the site of another great ghost story -- Duntrune Castle and the phantom MacDonald piper...

I've been straining my brain over the celtic mermaid/merman stories, trying to remember if they were considered Scottish or Irish. But no doubt there was little difference back at their time of origin so I'll throw those in. Funny how so many Celtic boggums, spirits, and ghosties are associated with the water.

Aye, Todd. Chief Robin Malcolm says they don't bother the ghost and in turn he doesn't bother them. And our own ThatCelticBand, alias Shawn Dunham has written a song about the Piper Ghost of Duntrune, called "Warning" performed by his band Uncle Hamish and the Hooligans. Interesting enough our own Tartan Hiker's son Connell has joined them as their bagpipper.

I have the documentary "Castle Ghosts of Scotland" on DVD that features Duntrune, along with the "Green Lady" of Fyfie Castle -- D. Lillias Drummond. I get the creeps just thinking about that one.

Thanks for the heads up, Todd. Just ordered it from Amazon and will watch it on All Hallows Eve.

Interesting article, Mael Coluim.
Hope you enjoy the documentary.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

"Land of the Celtic Ghosts" (1980) is also a "must have".
