    Looking great, Nighthawk!

There are a few things I think would greatly improve the overall functionality and look, all are very easily done.

    1) dye and burnish the inside of the top flap to match the exterior. That way you'll have as nice a finish on the inside as you've worked up on the outside.

    2) Leather hangers instead of the chain. You can whip these up in a few minutes.

    3) a knot or toggle attached to the flap. That way you can use the lace to loop around the toggle and won't have to unlace it to really get INTO the bag. Also, when you change the flaps around you won't have to keep unlacing and relacing. This would also allow you to add decorative knots or beads at the end of your laces, should you desire.

Awesome work, man. I can't wait to see what other flaps you come up with.

#1 I had thought of- I just ran out of time. I wanted to wear it to an event yesterday. #2... I never even considered making leather hangers! What a great idea!!

I figured that out last night when out and about, using it. It was a little bit of a pain in the butt to get at my wallet. I'm actually planning to make a flap with Iron Maiden's Eddie on it. I have a skull and crossbones concho that I'm going to use as my toggle.

Thank you for the thoughts and advice. I appreciate it.

Given the fact that he was the one who taught me leather working, he's always on my mind when I do it. I'll be doing something, struggling with it, and think "I'll go call Rick! ...oh... Wait. Never mind." So unless I stop doing leather work, he's always going to be in my mind at least a little.
