I like #2. #3 is too abrupt for my tastes.

I'm with Drac, I have never been a big fan of the square top cantles, I think #2 with its angles and the positioning of the finials is a lot classier

I like number 3. It has a traditional look to it.

It's a hard decision. You're (thankfully) working with such classic designs that neither are outright offensive to the eye. However, my personal opinion is that #2 would be the better choice.

Just in terms of imagining myself with enough money to only buy two, I would painfully have to choose #3 to pass on. And I do mean painfully. I'm picturing #3 in brass or pewter over white goat hair (thinking of Duncan, Her Majesty's Keeper at Balmoral), and getting a sinking feeling that I may never see it come to pass.

There are some pictures of it that might be useful as reference

Thanks! It's actually an MoD sporran from c1953. It's the same style Matt recently had 're-bagged' HERE.

Downunder Kilt and several other X-Markers have them as well. I was asking for inspiration in another thread HERE, which has some lovely pieces.

Their rarity (until recent weeks, when 3 of them have popped up) was one of the things that drove me toward making my own.

I'd also like to have something different. I imagine showing up to a 'do' with the same 'rare' sporran as another gent is similar to wives showing up in the same gown

Thought I'd bump this thread, just to see how things are proceeding. As an observer, I've been really excited about this project. Like a good book series, I can't wait to find out where the story goes.

    I prefer #2 over #3.

This is a really cool thread. Thanks for taking the time to explain so much!
