Black and Brown?

This brings to mind something that related to my comment above about how common it was, nearly universal actually, to wear brown sporrans and black shoes in Day Dress: that in the Highland regiments all the shoes are black and the so-called Highland Brigade sporrans are all brown. So that brown+black Highland Dress is codified into the dress of the Highland soldier. The military day sporrans are a rather dark brown, but definately not black.
