The author explores such things as folkways and customs, superstitions, naming ways (child naming) and child rearing, giving very fascinating examples. So far I have yet to see a book specific to the Scotch-Irish that is as informative as Albions Seed. I would suggest this book to anyone interested in their Scots-irish ancestors in this country.
Have you read James Leyburn's The Scotch-Irish: a Social History from the University of North Carolina Press. It still considered to be one of the best one-volume histories of the Ulster-Scots available. I also recommend Albion's Seed, but I would recommend one begin with Leyburn.
