More like a set, usually sold as 4 or 5.

I hate to keep raining on your parade, but I'd encourage you to find an old lady to teach you. They're usually glad to pass on their knowledge and skills, and they like to hug, too.

(when I was learning to knit up in NH the woman that sold us yarn also gave us advice and it was a lovely way to spend an afternoon)
