Unfortunately, I have nothing to offer in trade; but that can't stop me from complimenting you on your workmanship.

I really like the look of antler handle sticking up from kilt hose and I am patiently waiting for a sgian dubh that I traded some antler for almost a year ago.

Making a sheath for your sgian brews looks like it could be an interesting project... after all, you don't want them snagging the inside of your hose.

Those Guiness commercials from a few years ago spring to mind where the scientist yells "BRILLIANT!!"

I have nothing to offer in trade, but thanks for the idea. I have a boot knife with a completely broken-off blade and just found a use for it!

Thanks to everyone for your interest. I'm a bit surprised at the response for these little things, and have already run out! I will by making more though and will post images of them and some new kilt pins sometime after Christmas. In the meantime I hope you manage to find other ways to get your brews open and keep your kilts closed!

Panache also provided me with the common source of the the opener blanks some time ago and I made a few.

For a more "special" Sgian "Brew" may I suggest the following source:

And for a even classier version, contact Rab Gordon!

I've made up two using his cast openers, and they are wonderful.

Back to the original post...you said you know someone who has antlers that he has no use for? I just can't wrap my mind around such a situation.

I was thinking the same thing! There are always knives that need handles and things that need buttons!

I was a little surprised at having no use for antler as well, but Lord knows I can come up with plenty of uses for them so I'll be glad to take them off his hands!
