While I've only been asked once for a photo, I really like the $5 a pic thought!

Meh, I don't mind me and/or my hubby being photographed, I would be displeased if someone were to take pictures of my kids without permission, but sometimes they stop you for a picture when it's not exactly convenient (f.e. while rushing the two year old to the potty, when late for an appointment, or rushing yourself to the potty!)

Not sure if I've had anybody take any pictures without me knowing and really don't care. I have had two or three requests so far and always agreed. Those wanting pictures were nice and we all had a good time having the pictures taken. Now if they would just post them so I could see them.
If you don't want to attract any attention just wear blue jeans and you'll blend in with everybody else in the room.

As a rule, I don't like photographs taken of me. There is (quite literally) a 10 year span with a grand total of 3 (family) photos taken. No pix of drunken college shenanigans (and there were PLENTY of those), no casual shots, nothing.
I don't allow my wife to post pix of me on her facebook page, and even though her settings are private, I only grudgingly accept that she's going to post pix of our son.
XMarks is the only place I've ever had a pic of me appear on the interweb where I'm reasonably identifiable and nameable (my son, while pictured a few times, is never named).
Some of my friends think I'm paranoid, until I bust out a google search and turn up a handful of pix of them in an image search Google is big brother, kids. ith:

When I started wearing kilts in public I really tried the best I could not to be photographed. When I saw a person with a camera looking at me, I would turn my head away or look down and if someone asked I would refuse.
Now I have realized that the only way to be sure, not to be published wearing a kilt is - not wearing a kilt and as that should be quite unsatisfactory I have given in. Most people are welcome to take my picture.

Crack me up Zardoz.
There's an old west theme restaurant and bar in town with a dance floor and a live band. Been known to dance kilted to country music there. When I do the Oriental tourists light me up with their flash cameras and video cams. I just put a little extra swing in the pleats for them...
Visions of folks all over the Far East looking at vacation pictures and being exposed to the concept of a man in a kilt.

I generally dislike being photographed. I would say that most people I meet, especially friends and family do not understand this. My wife had begrudgingly accepted that she will get at most 2 or 3 pictures of me during any given vacation. I try to keep it down to 1.
However when the kilt is added in, everyone seems to think I am there for their entertainment and it is their right to take my picture. It is that attitude that I do not like. If someone asks nicely I will generally say yes. When they ask rudely, I generally walk away or turn around.
One thing I noticed and for those who have seen the Capital One adds with the goat, they will understand the reference, that my sporran seems to attract allot of attention. I wear a full mask skunk. Last year at an event (mostly Irish) I had several requests for pics with the skunk, not with me. This included one young lady who knelt down to get her head near the skunk, then said a phrase I never thought I would hear to the photographer: OK, Daddy, take the shot of me like this. It got to the point that I realized the best line I could think of is spoken by the viking who is denied entry to the night club: But, I'm with him. As I have realized that in most pics, I am with my highland wear and not the other way around.

*bold is mine*
This is hitting the nail on the head. Can't tell you how many times I searched for a picture of a tartan and had pictures from our site here pop up.
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear
