Having just had a thread on bespoke V made to measure, and having just visited the KA site, I could see no mention of bespoke services yet plenty of mention about made to measure services. Is there still confusion about the two?

My definition of "bespoke" - Mainly or wholly hand made, to a customer's precise measurements as taken by a skilled tailor and involving a number of fittings. A high degree of customisation with the customer able to specify style, material and features. I acknowledge anyone's freedom to a different definition....As a simple example the KA standard vest has a v-cut at the waist, but they are perfectly happy to supply one cut straight.......

In the US we say "custom made" or "tailor made" for things in general, "made to measure" for clothing. Stange as it may seem, we might use "tailor made" for things other than clothes.

"Bespoke" in the UK seems to cover various things: a friend who is a sword collector found out that Wilkinson Sword made the prop swords for the move Excalibur. When he emailed Wilkinson and inquired about purchasing an Excalibur sword he received this reply:

    Sorry, item bespoke.

He was at a loss to understand what speaking might have to do with a sword.

In any case, the waistcoats/vests with a straight bottom and lapels are widely available off the rack/off the peg here for example at the link I gave in an earlier reply. No bespeaking necessary.

River Junction sells flat bottomed vests for Wild West reenactment. I have never seen these vests, so cannot speak to the quality, but they seem proud of their product and are willing to adjust sizes and materials. 100% wool in many different patterns.

    Single breasted notch collar.

    Different styles and collars.
