Me, I just don't stand so close to the fire...
Usually when I roast nuts or spices I do it in a cast iron skillet, either in the
oven or stove top...can do it on the wood stove with a dutch oven...but it's iffy.
I did do our Christmas country ham on the wood stove in a DO...was good!
