I have only thought of two things.

One, I own a bunch of wool garmets and I own two pairs of Carhartts. I have decades of experience with denim. I have never owned anything in wool that comes close to the durability of denim, and I have never owned anything in denim that comes close the durability of Carhartts.

Second, if someone decides to point man on it, I would likely sign up for five yards single width on a universal sett made of blue denim thread, with black, khaki and green carhartt thread. Maybe something to fit like a UK with simple box pleats in the yet to be created "Xmarks rugged"?
